Five years ago, I moved from Hong Kong to Toronto with no connections. English wasn’t my first language, and much of my overseas experience wasn’t recognised. Suddenly, I had to rebuild my career from the beginning in a city I wasn’t even sure I would call home forever.
But I knew one thing: I wanted a skill that belonged to me, something I could carry wherever life took me, so I would never have to start from zero again.
As I approached 30, I took a leap of faith and learned lashes.
Within two years, I built my own studio to consistent $5K months through UV lash services. Today, I earn nearly three times what I made working for others but the greatest reward is the freedom to choose my schedule, travel when I want and trust that I can create opportunities for myself anywhere.
Looking back, I don’t regret taking the leap. I only regret how long I waited because I believed I wasn’t ready.
